With a combined 150 years of PET experience, ABT’s team has a long history in PET imaging. ABT’s team, founded by Dr. Ronald Nutt who commercialized PET imaging while at CTI Molecular Imaging, Inc., includes individuals from the PET biomarker distribution, PET imaging and radiochemistry industries. The team is anchored around our many talented accelerator scientists and technicians, as well as veterans of medical device manufacturing outside of PET. Partners, brokers, distributors and other global stakeholders work with ABT to expand the utility and presence of the Biomarker Generator.
Peter Kingma brings more than 20 years of experience in the international Medical Device space. At Siemens Medical Solutions, his positions included Global Vice President of CT Sales & Marketing, Managing Director Siemens Medical, and the United States Vice President of Molecular Imaging. Most recently, he held the position of Group Vice President of Global Sales Initiatives with Elekta. Prior to that Mr. Kingma was responsible for International Sales and Services with Nucletron, a highly successful Brachytherapy startup based in Amsterdam, and subsequently acquired by Elekta. Mr. Kingma’s education is business and engineering focused, and includes an HNDT Elec. Eng LC from Cape Peninsula University in Cape Town, South Africa.
Michael Templin joined ABT as Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer in February 2013. Prior to joining ABT, Mr. Templin worked as an independent consultant for several different organizations. Mr. Templin was employed by CTI Molecular Imaging and CTI PET Systems, a joint venture between Siemens and CTIMI, for thirteen years, serving as the Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer while there. During his tenure, the company sales grew from $20M to $250M with total employment growing from 125 to 650. In June 2002, he participated in the initial public offering of CTIMI shares on the NASDAQ exchange with total proceeds of $170 million. In 2005, Siemens Medical Solutions purchased CTIMI for $1B. Mr. Templin began his career at Coopers and Lybrand in 1983. He completed his undergraduate degree and MBA at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Mr. Templin is on the Accounting Advisory Board at the University of Tennessee School of Business.
John Greiner joined ABT as the Vice President of Operations at the beginning of the 2011. He previously led the Product Inspection Division of the UK based Smiths Detection business as General Manager and Director of Operations. This global Smiths Detection division produced capital X-ray and FTIR inspection equipment for inspection of manufactured products and for homeland security applications. Prior to that, Mr. Greiner was the Plant Manager of a large manufacturing site and distribution center for Newell Rubbermaid. He began his career as an Electrical Engineer for Kimberly-Clark Corporation. With Kimberly-Clark, he led Engineering and Operations teams within the Health Care Division and multiple medical device plants as well as supported acquisition and integration activities of several medical device companies. Mr. Greiner received an Executive MBA from the University of Tennessee and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.
Thomas Bruckbauer joined ABT as Vice President of Research and Development in November of 2016 with more than 20 years of experience with medical and preclinical devices. His team is responsible for taking ideas to commercial production, as well as expanding the existing product platform of biomarker generators and diagnostic imaging agents. Mr. Bruckbauer started his career at the Max-Planck-Institute for Neurologic Research in Cologne working on image reconstruction and analysis. In 1997 he joined CTI PET Systems, a joint venture between Siemens and CTIMI, which was acquired by Siemens in 2005. During this time Mr. Bruckbauer worked on whole body 3D PET acquisition with LSO detectors, image reconstruction, the Focus and Inveon preclinical systems, and led various development and support groups. From 2012 to 2016, Thomas Bruckbauer led various strategic marketing and R&D groups for optical, PET/SPECT/CT and PET/MR systems at Bruker Biospin. He holds a degree in Applied Physics from the Heinrich-Heine Universität Düsseldorf, Germany, and a degree in Business Administration from The Fuqua School of Business, Duke University, Durham, NC.
Rick Rippin joined ABT as Sales Director in late 2009 to establish a worldwide sales infrastructure for the “Dose on Demand” Biomarker Generator. Mr. Rippin has over 20 years of experience in sales and marketing in the diagnostic imaging industry. Prior to his role at ABT, he managed Molecular Imaging Sales with Siemens Medical Solutions, Toshiba America Medical Systems, and Naviscan. Mr. Rippin received his BS Degree from Towson University, and Nuclear Medicine Degree from Johns Hopkins University.
Rudi Verbruggen joined ABT as the Managing Director in Europe, the Middle East and Africa in July 2013. Prior to joining ABT, Mr. Verbruggen served as the Managing Director for PETNET biomarkers and cyclotrons in Europe, the Middle East and Africa as well as the Managing Director for CTI in Europe and the Middle East. With over 20 years experience in PET, Mr. Verbruggen brings extensive knowledge and technical skills to the ABT team. Mr. Verbruggen has studied both engineering and business and holds a Ph. D. from the University of Pretoria.
